Summer Trip Day 4: Bled - Postojna Cave - Ljubljana

Fourth day of the trip!! Almost half of it.. ^^ Yesterday, we admired the beauty of Bled Lake with its church and castle. So, today we will waive goodbye to Bled to move to Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia.

Bled Lake for the last time,
so beautiful I would like to make it a postcard :D

The bunnies also feel hard to say goodbye to Bled

But it's time to move on..
The journey must go on..

On the way to Ljubljana, we stopped by Postojna Cave, a cave in Slovenia famous for its stalactites and stalagmites. Stalactites are the precipitation of minerals that hanging down from the ceiling of the limestone cave, while stalagmites are the precipitation of minerals that rising up from the floor of the cave. They have different colors depending on the minerals they contained. You will soon see the beautiful stalactites and stalagmites inside the cave. ;)

Take a right turn to Postojna before heading towards Ljubljana

Finally, exiting towards Postojna

Yay, we arrived in Postojna Cave

Since the cave was located a few hundred meters below the ground, the temperature was very low. Regardless the seasons, the temperature stayed at 8 degree Celcius. And because we were not allowed to take pictures with blitz inside, we decided not to bring the bunnies. All pictures of the cave were taken without blitz, so apologize for the quality. ;)

Entrance of Postojna Cave

We spent about 1.5 hours inside the cave, including the train ride to go in and out of the cave. It was a very great experience for us, though we had seen similar caves before. So next, we continued to Ljubljana. The drive took only 1 hour from Postojna to Ljubljana.

Exiting to the west side of Ljubljana

We had our lunch in Ljubljana before starting the city tour. When we walked on the street, we could see many graffitis on the wall. Almost every inch of the wall had graffitis. =_=

We walked inside the city to enjoy the view. We passed a lot of beautiful buildings.

The city hall

Preseren Field, named in honor of the poet Preseren

The Art Gallery

Dragon, symbol of the city of Ljubljana

From the city, we walked to our last destination of the day, Ljubljana Castle. To go up to the castle, we must took the funicular cable car. The panoramic view of Ljubljana from the castle was simply fantastic.

Ljubljana from the castle

Though the castle was not big, it was situated in a very strategic area. From the castle, we could see the entire city of Ljubljana, so the soldiers from the past could watch the activities in the city from the castle. ;) We descended from the castle using the same funicular cable car. Near the cable car station, there was a theater building and the bunnies loved one of the pictures. :D

Doktor Faust

It almost the end of the day. We walked back to find our bus because the bus couldn't enter the city. We crossed many bridges, including the famous Dragon Bridge.

The bunnies tried to capture the sight of the dragon
from inside the bus

That concluded the trip for the day. We had our dinner in a chinese restaurant and went straight away to the hotel afterwards. Time to refresh ourselves for the new day. See you in the next post. ;)
