Hello, everyone! It's time to continue the trip. After recharging for one night in Rimini, the trip continued towards Venice. I assume everybody knows about Venice, it's a very famous city in Italy, famous of its canals and of course gondolas. :) So, let's start the trip!!
The second day of the trip was begun by leaving Rimini and taking a 1.5-hour drive to Venice. Venice itself is divided into two parts, the Venice Island and Venice (the land connected to Italy). Today, we will visit the Venice Island, the one famous for its canals and gondolas. ;)
Going to Venice from Rimini, we're passing Bologna once again.
This time, we're not stopping for lunch.
Finally, a sight of Venice road sign
We're exiting from the highway soon
Finally.. Welcome to Venice everyone!! :D
We directly went towards the port to ride a boat to Venice Island. We'll spend one whole day in the island.
Entering the port to find the boat
The boat was not big because it was hired to suit our numbers of 30 people. But it was still quite nice. We could feel the breeze as the boat crossed the sea. Our two beloved birds also joined the boat ride. They didn't want to miss the fun..
"Hey, this is the first time we're riding the boat!!
We used to fly all the time ;)"
During the boat ride, we enjoyed the panoramic view of Venice Island, and we hope that you will enjoy it too..
After 30 minutes of shaky boat ride, we finally stepped back on the land. The island was sunny at that time, the sun shone really bright. You could tell from the clear sky in the pictures. :D
First step on Venice Island
Before lunch, we had a city tour in the island. Not much sightseeing places to see..
We walk towards the centre of the island,
together with the crowds
St. Mark Basilica
Side view of the Basilica
The Bell Tower
St. Mark Square, the biggest square in the island
Actually, we also visited Doge's Palace, an ex-government building of Venice. However, the palace was not that good anymore such that we didn't know what picture to take of it. =_=" We then had our lunch in the island. Not a very fancy lunch, just seafood pasta and some fried seafood. Thus, no picture good enough to take. ;)
Next, we went ahead to the gondola station. Since this was our second time in Venice, we didn't take the gondola ride again. It was fun before but would be quite boring to do it twice. :D So, the birds should be satisfied just to take picture with the gondola.. :)
The gondola station
After that was free time. We were given free time of about two hours before returning to the mainland. And free time equals to shopping time.. Hahaha.. And that would be the end to this post. The birds just snuggled inside the bag during our shopping time.
Time to go back to the mainland,
back to the port to ride the boat again
And that was really all for the day.. Not too packed like the first day, but I hope you still enjoy the pictures. ;D
I love the pictures, so beatiful!!!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are wonderful and I love the one with the birds and the gondolas! I have been three times to Venice, twice at Easter and one time in February for the carnival. The costumes were so amazing! And although it has been rather cold that season, it was worth the visit :-)
ReplyDeleteI was once to Venice with my schoolmates many years ago, and I would love to go back again with my husband, it is so romantic! Did you buy anything of Murano crystal? It is very famous there!
ReplyDeleteKisses
@Leona: It must be wonderful to see the carnival. We wish to see it too, but sadly February is not a holiday season for us. :(
ReplyDelete@Raquel: Yes, you must go back to Venice with your husband, and also baby Alba. ;D We bought Murano crystal in our previous visit, so we didn't buy it again. :D
